1. Data We Collect

1.1 - Data You Provide to Us

You provide us with certain information when you create an account.

Registration

To create an account, you must provide certain information, including your first and last name, email address and/or mobile phone number, general location (e.g., city), and a password. If you register for a premium service, you will also need to provide payment (e.g., credit card) and billing information.

This information helps build your BossArena profile (a completed profile allows you to make the most of our Services).

Profile

You have options regarding the information you include in your profile, such as education, work experience, skills, photo, city or region, and endorsements. You are not required to provide additional profile information, but doing so can help you make the most of our Services, including business opportunities. Adding sensitive information to your profile and making it public is your choice. Please do not include personal data in your profile that you do not want to be publicly visible.

Publishing and Uploading

We collect personal and company-related information that you provide, publish, or upload to our Services, including documents that verify your status as a company owner or partner. If you choose to import your address book, we will receive your contact list (including contacts added automatically by your email provider or app when you communicate via email or phone number).

If you synchronize your contacts and calendars with our Services, we will collect your address book and meeting information to suggest connections and inform you about events (e.g., time, place, participants).

You are not required to publish or upload personal data, but if you do not, your ability to expand your network and communicate within our Services may be limited.

1.2 - Data from Others

Other people may publish posts or write about you.

Content and News

In our Services, you or others may share content containing information about you (such as articles, posts, comments, and videos). Additionally, we may collect publicly available professional content and achievements related to you and, if permitted by your settings, notify other users about them through our “Mentioned in the News” feature.

Other people can synchronize their contact lists and calendars with our Services.

Contact and Calendar Information

When others synchronize their contacts or calendars with our Services, associate their contacts with Member profiles, scan and upload business cards, or send messages (including invitations and connection requests), we receive some of your personal data (including contact information). If you or others synchronize email accounts with our Services, we also collect "email headers" that we can match to Member profiles.

Our customers and partners may provide us with data.

Affiliated Companies and Other Services

When you use a service provided by us or one of our affiliates, we receive data related to that service. For example, you may choose to provide us with information about your contacts from certain apps and services to enhance professional networking within our Services.

1.3 - Service Usage

We log your visits and usage of our Services, including mobile apps.

We record usage data whenever you visit or interact with our Services, including browsing our sites, apps, and platform technologies, viewing or clicking on content (e.g., learning videos) or ads (inside or outside our sites and apps), conducting a search, installing one of our mobile apps, sharing an article, or applying for a job. We use session logs, cookies, device information, and internet protocol (“IP”) addresses to identify you and log your usage.

1.4 - Cookies and Similar Technologies

We collect data through cookies and similar technologies.

As stated in our Cookie Policy, we use cookies and similar technologies (e.g., pixels and ad tags) to recognize you and/or your device across different services and devices, ensuring engagement with our Services and delivering relevant ads.

1.5 Your Device and Location

We collect data through cookies and similar technologies.

When you visit or leave our services (including some of our plugins, cookies on other sites, and similar technologies), we receive the URLs of both the sites you come from and go to, as well as the time of your visit. We also receive information about your network and device (e.g., your IP address, proxy server, web browser and plugins, device identifier and features, cookie IDs, and/or your internet service provider or mobile carrier). If you use our services from a mobile device, that device may send us location-related information depending on your phone settings. We will ask for your consent before using GPS or other tools to determine your precise location.

1.6 Messages

If you communicate through our services, we become aware of it.

We collect information about you when you send, receive, or are associated with a message in connection with our services. For example, if you receive a connection request on BossArena, we track what you do with that request and send you reminders. Additionally, we use automatic scanning technology to support and protect our site. For example, we use this technology to suggest possible responses to messages and to manage or block content that violates our User Agreement or Professional Community Policies.

1.7 Third-Party Sites and Services

We receive information when our advertisements, cookies, or certain plugins are present, or when you sign in to other services with your BossArena account.

We receive information about visits and interactions with other services that include our plugins (such as "Apply with BossArena"), advertisements, cookies, or similar technologies when you sign in with BossArena.

1.8 Other

We continuously improve our services, which means we receive new data and create new methods for using data.

Our services are dynamic, and we frequently add new features that may require collecting new types of information. If we collect significantly different personal data or change how we use your data in a clear way, we will notify you and update this Privacy Policy.

2. How We Use Your Data

We use your data to provide, support, personalize, and improve our services.

How we use your personal information depends on which services you use, how you use them, and the preferences you set in your settings. We use the data we have about you, along with automated systems and inferences we make, to provide and personalize our services (including advertisements) so that our services become more relevant and useful to you and others.

2.1 Services

Our services help you connect with others, find business and career opportunities, stay informed, receive training, and be more productive.

We use your data to authorize access to our services and apply your settings.

Stay Connected

Our services help you stay in touch with colleagues, business partners, customers, and other professionals. This enables you to connect with the professionals you want and those who want to connect with you. Based on your settings, when you connect with members, you can explore their connections for professional opportunities.

We use data about you (such as your profile, viewed profiles, or information provided via address book uploads or partner integrations) to help others find you, suggest connections to you and others (e.g., mutual connections or members with similar work experience), and allow you to invite others to join and connect with you. Additionally, you can allow us to use your precise location or proximity to others for specific purposes (e.g., suggesting nearby members to connect with, estimating commute times for a job, or notifying connections of your presence at a professional event).

Inviting someone to our services, sending a connection request, or allowing another member to connect with you is your choice. When you invite someone to connect, your invitation includes basic network and profile information (e.g., name, profile photo, job title, location) and is sent to the first person in your selected CONNECTION PATH. We send reminders about the invitation to each person in the connection path and ultimately to the invited person. You can choose to share or not share your connection list with your connections.

Stay Informed

Our services keep you updated on professional topics, events, and insights from professionals you respect. Our services also help you develop your professional skills and learn new ones. We use the data we have about you (e.g., data you provide, data we collect from your interactions with our services, and inferences we make from your data) to personalize content and conversations for you by suggesting relevant content and evaluating topics. We use your content, activities, name, photo, and other information to provide notifications to your network and others. For example, based on your settings, we may notify others when you update your profile, publish content, engage in social interactions, use a feature, make new connections, or are mentioned in the news.

Productivity

Our services help you collaborate with colleagues and find potential clients, buyers, business partners, and others with whom you can work. Our services enable you to communicate with other members and schedule meetings. If your settings allow, we may scan messages to assist you with scheduling, drafting responses, summarizing messages, or suggesting next steps using "bots" or similar tools.

2.2 Communication

We communicate with you and enable communication between members. For certain messages, we provide settings to control the type and frequency of messages you receive.

We contact you via email, mobile phone, text messages, in-app notifications, BossArena inbox messages, and other methods through our services. We send messages regarding service availability, security, and other service-related matters. Additionally, we send messages about how to use our services, network updates, reminders, job suggestions, and promotional messages from us and our partners. You can adjust your communication preferences at any time. Please note that you cannot opt out of service messages, including security and legal notifications.

2.3 Advertising

We show you personalized ads inside and outside our services. You have choices regarding personalized ads, but you cannot opt out of seeing general advertisements.

We target (and measure the performance of) ads for our members, visitors, and others inside and outside our services—directly or through various partners—using data such as:

  • Data from ad technologies like pixels, ad tags, cookies, and device identifiers inside and outside our services;
  • Data provided by members (e.g., profile, contact details, job title, and industry);
  • Data from your use of our services (e.g., search history, activity streams, content you view, connections, pages visited, videos watched, ads clicked);
  • Information from advertising partners, providers, and publishers;
  • Inferred information from the above data (e.g., using your name to infer gender, using activity data to determine interests, or using device information to recognize you as a member).

We show you advertisements that look like non-sponsored content except for being labeled as sponsored content (e.g., "ad" or "sponsored"). If you engage in any social interaction with these ads (such as liking, commenting, or sharing), your action will be associated with you and visible to others, including the advertiser. Depending on your settings, if you engage socially through BossArena Services, this interaction may be referenced in related ads. For example, if you like a company, we may include your name and photo in their sponsored content.

Ad Preferences

We adhere to self-regulation principles regarding interest-based advertisements and support the industry-wide opt-out option. This does not mean you will stop receiving ads; you will continue to receive ads from advertisers who do not work with these self-regulation tools. Additionally, you can opt out of the use of data for specific categories to show you more relevant ads.

Information for Advertisers

We do not share your personal information with third-party advertisers or ad networks except in the following cases: (i) hashed IDs or device identifiers (to the extent they are considered personal data in some countries); (ii) with your explicit permission; or (iii) if the data is already public for all users of the Services (e.g., profile). However, if you click on an ad within or outside our Services, advertisers may receive a signal indicating that someone visited the page where the ad was displayed. They may also determine that it was you using mechanisms such as cookies. Advertising partners may associate personal information obtained directly from you with anonymized IDs or device identifiers received from us. In such cases, we require advertisers to obtain your consent through a contract before proceeding.

2.4 Marketing

We promote our Services to you and others.

We use members' data and content for advertising our Services, invitations, communications to increase membership and network size, interactions, and showcasing features you use in our Services to your connections.

2.5 Service Development and Research

We improve our Services and conduct research.

Service Development

We use your data, including general feedback, to guide research and development efforts aimed at offering a better, more intuitive, and personalized experience, increasing membership and engagement in our Services, and helping professionals connect and find economic opportunities.

Other Research

We strive to help all members worldwide be more productive and successful by creating economic opportunities. We use publicly available personal data to research social, economic, and workplace trends, such as job development opportunities, required skills for certain roles, and workforce gaps across different industries and regions. In some cases, we conduct these studies through trusted third parties under privacy-protective controls. Instead of using personal data, we publish aggregated economic insights or allow third parties to publish them.

Surveys

Research and surveys may be conducted through our Services by us or third parties. Participation in these surveys is optional, and you have control over the information you provide. You can opt out of survey invitations.

2.6 Customer Service

We use data to assist you and resolve issues.

We use data (including contact details) to investigate, resolve, and respond to complaints and issues related to our Services (e.g., bugs).

2.7 Insights Without Identifying You

We use data to generate insights that do not identify you.

We use your data to create and share non-identifiable insights. For example, we may use your data to generate general statistics about our members, their professions, or industries, calculate the number of ad impressions and clicks, publish demographic distributions of visitors to a Service, or develop workforce insights.

2.8 Security and Investigations

We use data for security, fraud prevention, and investigations.

We use your data (including contact details) for security purposes or to prevent or investigate possible fraud, violations of the User Agreement, or attempts to harm our Members, Visitors, or others.

3. How We Share Information

3.1 Our Services

All data in your profile and any content you publish or interactions you engage in within our Services (e.g., likes, follows, comments, shares) may be visible to others based on your settings.

Profile

Your profile is fully visible to all Members and customers of our Services. Additionally, based on your settings, it may be viewed by others inside or outside our Services (e.g., Visitors or users of third-party search engines). As detailed in our Help Center, your settings influence who can view your profile, based on factors such as the viewer's connection level with you, their subscriptions, their usage of our Services, and the search type (e.g., by name or keyword).

Posts, Likes, Follows, Comments, Messages

Our Services allow information to be displayed and shared through posts, likes, follows, and comments.

  • When you share an article or post (e.g., an update, image, video, or article), this content can be viewed by anyone and shared anywhere (depending on your settings). Members, Visitors, and others can see publicly shared content, including your name (and photo, if provided).
  • In a group, posts are visible to other group members. Group membership is public and part of your profile, but you can adjust its visibility in your settings.
  • Any information you share on a company's or organization's page is displayed there and can be seen by visitors to that page.
  • When you follow a person or organization, you are visible as a follower to others and to the “page owner.”
  • Depending on your current settings, we notify message senders when you interact with their messages.
  • Based on your settings, we notify a Member when you visit their profile.
  • When you like, share, or comment on another person’s content (including ads), others can see this "social interaction" and associate it with you (e.g., your name, profile, and photo if provided).

3.2 Creating a Communication Archive

Members subject to regulations may need to archive their communications outside our Services.

Some Members (or their employees) may need to archive their communications and social media activities due to legal or professional compliance and will use other services for this archiving process. We support the archiving of messages for Members outside our Services. For example, a financial advisor may be required to archive communications with clients through our Services to maintain their financial advisory license.

3.3 Other Services

You can connect with other services using your account, allowing them to view your connections' profiles, share your posts on such platforms, or enable discussions with your connections on those platforms. Some sections of your profile may appear on other services.

Depending on your settings, other services may view your profile. If you choose to establish a connection between your account and other services, your personal data becomes accessible to them. The sharing and usage of this personal data will be explained in a consent screen displayed at the time of account linking or referenced via a link. Third-party services have their own privacy policies, and by linking your accounts, you may be allowing them to use your information in ways we would not. You can cancel these connections.

Depending on your settings, some parts of your profile may appear on other services (e.g., in search engine results, in calendar applications that show limited information about the person with whom a user has a meeting or message exchange, in social media data aggregators, talent scouts, sales managers). Until these services update their data caches, your "old" profile information may remain visible.

3.4 Related Services

We share your data across different Services and BossArena affiliates.

We share your personal data with our affiliated companies to provide and improve our Services. To make our Services more relevant and useful for you and others, we may combine information from different Services covered by this Privacy Policy.

3.5 Service Providers

We may engage others to help us with our Services.

We use other companies to assist in providing our Services (e.g., maintenance, analysis, auditing, payments, fraud detection, marketing, and development). These companies will have access to the information necessary to perform these tasks on our behalf and are obligated not to disclose or use the information for other purposes.

3.6 Legal Notices

We may share your data when required by law or to protect the rights and safety of you, us, and others.

We may disclose information about you when legally required, such as in response to a subpoena or other legal process, or when we believe it is necessary to investigate, prevent, or address suspected or actual illegal activities, assist law enforcement authorities, enforce agreements, defend against claims, maintain the security or integrity of our Services (e.g., sharing with companies facing similar threats), or protect the rights, property, or safety of BossArena, our Members, employees, or others. Unless prohibited by law or an urgent request, we may try to notify our Members about legal demands for their personal data at our discretion. We may contest requests that are overly broad, vague, or lack proper authorization, but we are not obligated to challenge every request.

3.7 Change of Management or Sale

If our company is sold, your information may be shared, but it must continue to be used under this Privacy Policy.

We may share your personal data in preparation for or during a sale, merger, or change of management. The entity acquiring or partnering with our company has the right to continue using your data as specified in this Privacy Policy unless you provide consent otherwise.

4. Your Choices and Obligations

4.1 Data Retention

We retain most of your personal data as long as your account is active.

We generally retain your personal data as long as your account is active or as needed to provide our Services to you. This includes data provided by you or others and data we derive from your use of our Services. Even if you only use our Services occasionally for job searching, we keep your data and keep your account active unless you close it. In some cases, we may retain specific information (e.g., insights about Service usage) without personal details or in aggregated form.

4.2 Access and Control of Your Personal Data

You can access and delete your personal data. You have choices regarding how your data is collected, used, and shared.

We offer various options regarding the collection, use, and sharing of your data, including deletion, correction of your profile, visibility of your posts, advertising preferences, and communication controls. We provide settings to help you manage your personal information.

For the personal data we hold about you:

  • Delete Data: You may request us to delete or remove some or all of your personal data (e.g., if we no longer need to provide you with Services).
  • Modify or Correct Data: You can edit your personal data through your account. In certain cases, especially if information is incorrect, you may ask us to change, update, or correct it.
  • Object to, Restrict, or Limit Data Use: You may request that we stop using some or all of your personal data (e.g., if we have no legal right to use it) or restrict its use (e.g., if your data is inaccurate or unlawfully obtained).
  • Access and/or Obtain Your Data: You may request a copy of your personal data and a copy of the data you provided in a machine-readable format.

You can also contact us, and we will evaluate your requests in accordance with the law.

4.3 Account Closure

We retain some of your information even after you close your account.

If you choose to close your BossArena account, your data will generally stop being visible to others on our Services within 24 hours. Except in the cases listed below, we usually delete information related to the closed account within 30 days of account closure.

Even if you have closed your account, we may retain your personal information when necessary to fulfill legal obligations (including legal requests), comply with regulations, resolve disputes, ensure security, prevent fraud and misuse (e.g., if we restricted your account due to a violation of the Professional Community Policies), enforce our User Agreement, or process your subscription cancellation requests sent via message. We continue to store non-personal information after your account is closed.

Information you have shared with others may still be visible even after you close your account or delete it from your profile or message box, and we cannot control the data that other Members have copied from our Services. Content related to closed accounts in Groups, ratings, or review content will appear as being from an unknown user. Your profile may continue to appear on other services (e.g., search engines) until they update their caches.

5. Other Important Information

5.1. Security

We continuously monitor security vulnerabilities and work to prevent breaches. Please use the appropriate security features offered through our Services.

We implement security measures such as HTTPS to protect your data. We regularly monitor our system for potential security vulnerabilities and attacks. However, we cannot guarantee the security of any information you provide to us. There is no guarantee that data cannot be accessed, disclosed, altered, or destroyed due to breaches of physical, technical, or administrative safeguards.

5.2. Cross-Border Data Transfers

We may store and use your data outside your country.

In accordance with legal mechanisms enabling the cross-border transfer of data, we use your data both within and outside the United States. Learn more. The countries where we process data may have different laws from your country, and these laws may not provide the same level of protection as those in your country.

5.3 Legal Basis for Data Processing

We have legal rights to collect, use, and share data about you. You have options regarding how we use your data. You can revoke the permission you granted us at any time by adjusting your settings.

We collect and process personal data only when we have a legal basis to do so. Legal bases include consent (when you grant permission), contracts (when processing is necessary to fulfill a contract with you, such as providing the BossArena Services you requested), and "legitimate interests."

When we rely on your consent to process your data, you have the right to withdraw or revoke your consent at any time. When we rely on legitimate interests, you have the right to object. If you have any questions about the legal bases for our data collection and use, please contact our Data Protection Officer.

5.4. Direct Marketing and Do Not Track Signals

Our statement regarding direct marketing and "do not track" signals.

We do not share your personal data with third parties for direct marketing purposes without your consent.

5.5. Contact Information

You can contact us to resolve your complaints or explore other available options.

If you have questions or complaints about this Policy, please first contact BossArena online. You can also reach us by mail. If contacting us does not resolve your complaint, there are other options available. Individuals residing in specific countries and regions also have the right to contact our Data Protection Officer. If your complaint is still not resolved, individuals residing in specific countries and regions may have additional options under their local laws.

Consent

When we process data based on your consent, we request explicit permission from you. You may withdraw your consent at any time; however, this will not affect the legality of data processing carried out before the withdrawal. In cases where a contract applies, we require your acceptance of data processing as a necessary condition to execute or perform the contract. We consider legitimate interests as a legal basis for data processing when it does not override your interests or fundamental rights and freedoms.
